Los Alamos
Ambassador Program
Creating a knowledgeable welcoming group of ambassadors to effectively promote Los Alamos businesses and activities to tourists, visitors, and local residents.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Due to our location at the intersection of three national parks, ties to international history, and unique landscape, Los Alamos is a tourist destination, with more than upwards of 90,000 tourists visiting Los Alamos each year. All of these new residents, LANL students temporarily relocating to the area, visiting scientists and tourists can create a vibrant community, but it is up to us to create a welcoming atmosphere for this to occur.
Los Alamos has two visitor centers that do an amazing job, but much of the responsibility to welcome people to our community falls on hostesses, waitresses, retail workers, museum volunteers, and neighbors. How we treat others in day-to-day conversations has a significant impact, not only on the general atmosphere of the town, but also our local economy. So, creating a welcoming community depends on you!
The Los Alamos Ambassador Program was designed to help create a community of helpers. It is a FREE program that includes an approximately 1.5-hour in-person class where you will learn some techniques to become a more effective ambassador. While there are personal and economic benefits, the real reward is creating a community that is welcoming to all people. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a certificate and Community Cash eGift Card to use at local businesses. Join us and enroll in the free Los Alamos Ambassador Program today!
Please send us an email if you would like to receive information and notifications for upcoming classes or a custom session for your business or organization.
**There will be a session held Monday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at projectY cowork, 150 Central Park Square. Please contact Jennifer Armstrong at ambassador@losalamos.org to RSVP.
