Oct. 2On July 26th, 2011 the County Council held a work session in which developers and supporters of the Los Alamos Creative District Plan had the opportunity to introduce and familiarize council members with the the final version of plan. Jerry Allen and David Plettner-Saunders of the Cultural Planning Group presented the plan. Rich Williams of the New Mexico Economic Development Department was present to discuss the State’s participation in the Los Alamos Creative District process. Many members of the plan’s steering committee were also present, providing words of advocacy for the plan from their constituencies.

The work session resulted in a request from Council to return at a future work session date to continue discussions and to follow-up on concerns and questions raised by counselors. The feedback from the counselors from the first work session have been helpful to the Creative District’s steering committee members, who have begun working closely with the Los Alamos County Administrator to determine the most effective next steps as they move forward with the Creative District initiative.
